Why Healers Tell You to Drink Water
Many doctors, medical practitioners, and massage therapists told me to drink plenty of water over the years. I understood the cleansing powers of purified water, so it made sense to me. Staying well-hydrated “helps the heart more easily pump blood through the blood vessels to the muscles.¹” Blood carries nutrients to the rest of our bodies so we can thrive. With 60% of our bodies consisting of water on average², it made sense to drink more water after physical activities.
When I started going to healers and receiving energy work, I heard the same recommendation. “Drink plenty of water over the next 24-48 hours.” At first, I didn’t understand the correlation, so I just went with it. Sometimes I drank the water, and sometimes I didn’t. In truth, I couldn’t tell much of a difference either way.
It wasn’t until I was beginning a deeper dive into energy healing that I thought to ask someone why.
During my Reiki 2 class, I asked my Reiki Master why everyone recommends drinking water. To my knowledge, I was her first student to ask this question because she didn’t have a direct answer. Instead, she began to channel a message from Spirit, giving us both the answer. To paraphrase, because everything is energy when we perform hands-on healing such as Reiki, our molecules react in the same way as if they’ve been physically manipulated by, say, a massage. Toxins get dumped into the bloodstream and carried through our body’s normal filtration systems – our liver, kidneys, spleen, etc. Drinking water helps these organs flush anything out of our body that is ready to go.
I’ve learned that there’s still more to it than that.
We are electronic beings, so when we alter our frequency, drinking water acts as a conduit or conductor. Freshwater, purified water, or spring water keeps your system open and flowing as you move into a higher state of consciousness.
When we don’t drink water, our bodies take a much longer time to remove excess toxins and/or acclimate to new, higher vibrations. This may physically manifest as constipation, dry mouth, or headaches. Emotionally, you may feel a surge of strong emotions – sadness, anger, despair. Mentally you may have trouble concentrating or remembering things. Spiritually you may feel ungrounded.
How do you know if you’re drinking enough water?
- You’re urinating regularly.
- Your urine is light in color.
- You’re not unusually thirsty.
- You feel grounded and settled in your body.
- Your emotions come and go with ease – you aren’t fixating, ruminating, or having emotional outbursts.
- You can sleep.
- You can quiet your mind.

When in doubt, drink more water.
Water-Safe Crystals to Charge and Infuse Your Water
When you are working on known issues, adding crystals to your water may be beneficial. This is known as a “crystal elixir.” Certain crystals are safe to add to your water, while others are unsafe. Here is a short list of water-safe crystals and how to use them.
- Clear Quartz – amplification
- Amethyst – intuition
- Rose Quartz – love
- Smokey Quartz – protection
- Citrine – manifestation
- Agate – grounding
- Moonstone – fertility
- Aventurine – abundance
Before adding crystals that do not appear on this list to your water, do your research to make sure they don’t contain toxins. Some UNsafe crystals include Selenite, Fluorite, Lepidolite, Malachite, Pyrite, and Hematite. Notice all those crystals end in -ite. That’s one easy way to remember some of these crystals.
There are even water bottles now with compartments in the bottom for adding crystals. This way, you can use any crystal because they don’t actually come in contact with the water you drink! This is the one I use. After filling the bottom compartment with crystals, I fill the rest of the bottle with filtered water. I use a Berkey Water Filter. You wait for about 7 minutes before drinking for the crystals to charge the water.
Whatever way you choose to enjoy your water, enjoy it regularly. Your bodies will thank you.
